Steph Smith is an artist based in North London. She creates sculptural vessels, objects and two-dimensional works in clay.
Steph's work is informed by her background in fine art and design and "inspired by the rich tradition and history of ceramics.
"She blends these influences to create pieces that act as vehicles for her ideas, "exploring issues such as nature, the environment and the boundaries between art and craft."
Surface is important in her work. Drawing no boundaries between
the traditions of fine art and craft, Steph combines processes from both disciplines in her surface designs. These processes can include silkscreen printing, monoprinting, collage and resist techniques. Each piece can undergo many firings to further build depth and colour.
Steph has worked with both professional and amateur artists and designers on a wide range of projects in clay. Please e-mail via the contact form for further details and costs.
