These paintings are based on photographs and drawings which Steph has made of landscapes in London parks. Many layers of oil paint are applied, scraped away and reapplied until the desired mood is achieved. The resulting image, which will often include watery depths, reflections, an imagined bear and a flurry of snow or blossom, is more about an emotional response to a particular scene rather than representing an actual view.
